Staff is available M-F from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm, except for holidays, via phone and email, to support the citizens of Gogebic County during this public health emergency. 

We encourage appointments for in-person business.  Appointments are available M-F from 8:30 am through 4:00 pm.  We ask that you respect our most vulnerable citizens and allow them the preference of appointments from 8:30 am - 10:00 am.

 Please note individuals will be required to go through a health screening before entering the building as well as wear a mask and practice social distancing while inside the building.

NEW:  The Treasurer's office has installed a drop box for the added safety and convenience for taxpayers and County staff. The 24-hour drop box is located at the ADA entrance. Please do not put cash in the drop box and be sure to include your parcel number, address and phone number with your check or money order.

We have worked hard to provide you with online services that provide useful information about our office, our work and our fiduciary obligation to safe-keep financial resources. Our goal is to provide you with information and easy access to make an online tax payment, obtain your personal tax information or to provide you with a better understanding of what services we provide.

The Office of the County Treasurer was established by the Michigan State Constitution. The Treasurer is an elected official and serves a 4-year term. The majority of the Treasurer's duties are set by statute; however, authority is also provided for by the County Board of Commissioners and needs of our community.

The Treasurer is the custodian of all County funds, and is responsible for receipting, recording and investing all money received by the various departments within the County. As Investment Officer for the County, the Treasurer is responsible for the safeguarding and investing of these monies, acting in accordance with the County's Investment Policy.

The Treasurer is also responsible for the collection of delinquent real property taxes, settling with the Townships and Cities for their uncollected real property taxes, selling dog licenses, auditing of Principal Residence Exemptions, collecting of delinquent personal property taxes, conducting the annual property tax forfeiture/foreclosure process and auction.

Our office is committed to carrying out these responsibilities in the most efficient means possible, while providing outstanding customer service through a process of continuous evaluation of the way in which we do business.
